LANDMARK THEATRES PROMOTES TED MUNDORFF TO CEO
LOS ANGELES – December 7, 2007 – Landmark Theatres’ co-owners Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner today announced that Ted Mundorff has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer of the company, which is the nation's largest theatre chain dedicated to exhibiting and marketing independent film. Mr. Mundorff joined Landmark in January 2004 and has been its Chief Operating Officer since March. In his expanded role, Mr. Mundorff will have total oversight for the circuit's 58 theatres in 23 markets throughout the country.
Over the last year, Landmark Theatres increased its screen count by 19 percent. In June, The Landmark – the company’s flagship venue – debuted in Los Angeles giving the Westside of Los Angeles an upscale theatre for the discriminating movie-goer. On the east coast, Mr. Mundorff was instrumental in the successful opening of its newest theatre in Baltimore, Harbor East located in the city’s vibrant Inner Harbor. Landmark entered the Philadelphia market in March by acquiring the Ritz Theatre circuit. Slated to open in December is The Landmark Theatre, Greenwood Village, located in the Tech Center of Denver.
"Landmark has had a tremendous year both in terms of expansion and financial success,” Mark Cuban said. “With Ted at the helm driving strategy, overseeing film, theatre operations and three successful theatre openings, he has certainly earned this well-deserved promotion.”
Mr. Mundorff has been at the forefront of exhibition implementing progressive and innovative ways of promoting independent film. Mundorff was integrally involved with negotiating a multi-year deal with Samsung Electronics, which included a substantial incremental media buy on Paramount Vantage's Into the Wild and Focus Features’ upcoming release, Atonement. Some of Landmark's other recent successes include The Lives of Others, Pan’s Labyrinth and Once –all of which generated a significant portion of the country's overall box office gross.
Former CEO Bill Banowsky will continue to develop business opportunities for Landmark.
